With all that being said, we did learn a couple lessons: simply that this place is here for the simple and delicious food to shine, and not necessarily the beverages. We followed that up with the key lime pie that was a great way to round up a hearty meal. Both exceeded expectations, with a very fairly priced, flavorful and fresh lobster, and ribs that were fall-off-the-bone tender. For our mains, we got the Lobster and the Fried Shrimp and Baby Back Ribs. We ordered Conch Fritters for the first time, which had a very balanced frying, with a delicious seafood filling that isn't over-bearing. Loved the ambiance and wholesome feeling the entirety of the decor, food, and staff exudes. We came for an early dinner, but the restaurant was already packed by 6:30pm. Highly recommend stopping by The Fish House. The queso was basically the 'plastic' cheese you get with really cheap nacho platters. The one negative comment we have concerns the queso dip and chips. The cheese steak flatbread we had was very good. Drinks were reasonably prices - probably even a little below what you'd expect for a 'resort' in the Keys. it was her last week 'down south' before heading north for the summer rush up in New England) with great stories about the many places she worked. Our bartender was super friendly (a contracted bartender with the company that owns and operates the bar/restaurant. We docked in a slip by the Courtyard after a run up from Marathon just in time to clean up and head over for the beginning of Happy Hour(s) on a Thursday afternoon. Located on the south side of the canal it's a short walk from both the Holiday Inn and the Marina del Mar areas, and easily assessable from the Courtyard property on the north side of the canal. Skippers is the 'main' bar restaurant in the Key Largo canal 'combined resort' area (Courtyard by Marriott Key Largo/Holiday Inn/Marina del Mar).
